Mimi received her Masters Degree from Antioch New England Graduate School. She received special training in Internal Family Therapy, Mediation and issues related to families. She had ten years experience as Family and Youth Counselor at the Youth Service Bureau in Vermont and another ten years in private practice.
She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from the state of Florida (MT-2514) and a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and the Tampa Bay Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.

Mimi believes that most people are capable of dealing with their own problems, but sometimes need help in stepping back and viewing their options in an objective way. She says:

The skills that a person needs to use to explore and foster healthy relationships at home, at work, and in the community have to do with communication and personal growth. For example, our communication skills are largely formed by our inherited capabilities, our history, education and experiences. These help us find a productive and content life. But sometimes, our skills and customary ways of relating to others are poor. They hold us back. Everyone can learn new ways to interact and communicate better.

If we wish to have more satisfying and healthy relationships with ourselves and with others, we can learn to observe how our background and history have helped us to be who we are. We can look at how they affect our relationships with others. We can examine how our communication and relationship skills are influencing our life and begin to learn new patterns and skills to achieve our goals in life. Sometimes there are transitions in life, such as the death of a life partner. that require us to learn new ways to cope with life and new skills for living a healthy, happy life.
